About This Event

Stories From My Motherland is a “fireside” open mic experience that brings together generations to share, preserve, and celebrate the stories that have shaped us. From folk tales shared around village firesides to modern digital narratives told through screens, Insta and TikTok stories, this event bridges the cultural gap between Gen X, Millennials, and Gen Z generations. Every participant is a storyteller, contributing to a living archive of memory, identity, and shared heritage.

From old tales whispered by grandparents under starry skies, to schoolyard legends, first city shocks, campus survival stories, career pivots, heartbreaks, hustle wins, and now Instagram stories and digital diaries, this event celebrates the power of storytelling as our oldest technology and our strongest connector.

The Experience: Picture this: An afternoon where:

  • Gen Xs remember barefoot childhoods, boarding school letters, and village discipline.
  • Millennials unpack the shift years, dial-up internet, Nokia phones, and finding identity.
  • Gen Zs tell stories shaped by cities, screens, activism, creativity, and speed.
  • Laughter cuts across decades.
  • Silence holds heavy truths.
  • Applause feels personal.

Between stories, participants connect through:

  1. Light networking
  2. Snacks and refreshments
  3. Exhibition spaces featuring solutions and opportunities in:
  • IT & Innovation
  • Health & Wellness
  • Nonprofits & Social Impact
  • Finance, Investment & Wealth Building
  • Events & Creative Industries
  • Career Development & Scholarships
