Acceptable Use Policy

1. Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") defines the standards of behavior and acceptable practices for all users of the Karibisha event management platform, operated by Advantage Online, Nairobi, Kenya. This policy applies to event organizers, attendees, exhibitors, vendors, sponsors, and all other users of the Service.
By accessing or using Karibisha, you agree to comply with this AUP. This policy supplements our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Violations of this AUP may result in suspension or termination of your account.
2. Permitted Uses
Karibisha is designed for legitimate event management activities. Permitted uses of the platform include:
- Creating, publishing, and managing legitimate events such as conferences, workshops, seminars, concerts, festivals, trade shows, and community gatherings
- Selling tickets and processing registrations for your events
- Managing attendee registrations, check-ins, and communications
- Recruiting and coordinating exhibitors for trade shows, expos, and similar events
- Onboarding and managing vendors who provide goods or services at your events
- Sending event-related announcements, updates, and campaigns to registered attendees
- Collecting sponsorship contributions for events through the platform
- Generating reports and analytics to measure event performance
- Collaborating with team members and co-hosts on event planning
3. Prohibited Content
You may not create events, upload, publish, or distribute content on Karibisha that:
3.1 Violence, Hate, and Discrimination
- Promotes, incites, or glorifies violence against any individual or group
- Contains hate speech or promotes discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, disability, nationality, or any other protected characteristic
- Advocates for or supports terrorist organizations or activities
3.2 Illegal Activities
- Promotes or facilitates any activity that violates applicable local, national, or international laws
- Involves the sale, distribution, or promotion of illegal substances, controlled goods, or prohibited items
- Facilitates money laundering, tax evasion, or other financial crimes
3.3 Adult and Restricted Content
- Contains sexually explicit material without appropriate age restrictions and content warnings
- Depicts or promotes the exploitation of minors in any form
3.4 Misleading and Fraudulent Content
- Contains false, misleading, or deceptive event descriptions, dates, locations, or speaker lineups
- Advertises events with no genuine intention of hosting them
- Offers counterfeit, duplicated, or unauthorized tickets for events
- Misrepresents affiliations, endorsements, or partnerships with individuals or organizations
4. Prohibited Conduct
The following activities are strictly prohibited on Karibisha:
4.1 Fraud and Scams
- Creating fake events to collect payments with no intention of hosting the event
- Using stolen payment credentials or fraudulent payment methods
- Operating pyramid schemes, Ponzi schemes, or other deceptive financial arrangements through events
- Inflating ticket prices through artificial demand or deceptive practices
4.2 Spam and Unsolicited Communications
- Sending bulk unsolicited messages, invitations, or promotions to users
- Using the platform's communication tools for purposes unrelated to legitimate event management
- Creating multiple accounts to amplify promotional content or evade restrictions
4.3 Harassment and Abuse
- Harassing, bullying, threatening, or intimidating other users
- Stalking or repeatedly contacting a user after they have requested no further communication
- Publishing private or personal information about others without their consent (doxxing)
4.4 Impersonation
- Impersonating another person, organization, or entity
- Creating accounts or events that falsely suggest an affiliation with Karibisha or Advantage Online
- Misrepresenting your identity, qualifications, or authority to act on behalf of another party
4.5 Technical Abuse
- Scraping, crawling, or harvesting data from the platform without written authorization
- Attempting to gain unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or data
- Uploading or distributing viruses, malware, or other malicious software
- Disrupting, degrading, or interfering with the operation of the platform or its infrastructure
- Circumventing, disabling, or interfering with security features, rate limits, or access controls
4.6 Fee Circumvention
- Directing attendees to pay outside the platform to avoid service fees
- Manipulating pricing, discounts, or coupon systems to circumvent platform fees
- Creating fictitious refund requests to reclaim fees
5. Event-Specific Rules
Event organizers bear additional responsibilities when using Karibisha. As an organizer, you must:
5.1 Legal Compliance
- Obtain all required permits, licenses, and approvals for your event from relevant local and national authorities
- Comply with all applicable health, safety, fire, and crowd management regulations
- Ensure your event meets accessibility requirements under applicable law
- Adhere to tax obligations, including the collection and remittance of any applicable taxes on ticket sales
5.2 Accurate Event Information
- Provide truthful and accurate event descriptions, including date, time, location, and agenda
- Clearly disclose all costs, including ticket prices, additional fees, and any in-event purchases
- Update event details promptly if changes occur and notify affected registrants
- Clearly state your refund and cancellation policy before ticket sales begin
5.3 Honoring Ticket Sales
- Honor all tickets sold through the Karibisha platform
- Provide the experience, services, and access described in the event listing and ticket type
- Process refunds in accordance with your stated refund policy and applicable consumer protection laws
5.4 Safety Standards
- Take reasonable measures to ensure the safety and well-being of attendees, exhibitors, and vendors at your event
- Have appropriate emergency and first-aid provisions in place
- Not exceed the stated or legal venue capacity
- Provide clear communication to attendees regarding any risks associated with the event
6. Communication Standards
Karibisha provides campaign, announcement, and messaging tools for event-related communication. When using these tools, you must:
6.1 No Spam
- Only send messages that are directly relevant to your event and its attendees
- Respect frequency limits and avoid sending excessive communications
- Not use event campaigns or announcements to promote unrelated products, services, or third-party offerings
- Honor unsubscribe requests promptly and completely
6.2 Respectful Communication
- Communicate professionally and respectfully with all platform users
- Not use threatening, abusive, defamatory, or discriminatory language in any communications
- Respond to attendee inquiries and concerns in a timely manner
6.3 Data Privacy in Communications
- Not export, share, or sell attendee contact information or personal data obtained through Karibisha to third parties outside the platform
- Use attendee data solely for purposes related to the event they registered for
- Comply with applicable data protection laws, including the Kenya Data Protection Act, GDPR, and other relevant regulations when handling attendee information
7. Intellectual Property
All users must respect intellectual property rights when using Karibisha. You agree to:
- Only upload, publish, or distribute content (including images, logos, videos, music, and text) that you own or have obtained proper authorization to use
- Not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, patents, trade secrets, or other intellectual property rights of any third party
- Not remove, obscure, or alter any copyright notices, watermarks, or attribution from third-party content
- Respond promptly to any intellectual property complaints or takedown requests related to your content
- Not use the Karibisha name, logo, or branding in a way that implies endorsement or partnership without written permission from Advantage Online

8. Enforcement
We take violations of this Acceptable Use Policy seriously. Depending on the severity and nature of the violation, we may take one or more of the following actions:
8.1 Warnings
For minor or first-time violations, we may issue a written warning and request that you correct the behavior or remove the offending content within a specified timeframe.
8.2 Content Removal
We reserve the right to remove, disable, or restrict access to any content or event listing that violates this AUP, without prior notice if necessary.
8.3 Account Suspension
For repeated or serious violations, we may temporarily suspend your account and access to the platform. During suspension, you will be unable to create events, sell tickets, or access platform features.
8.4 Account Termination
For severe or persistent violations, we may permanently terminate your account. Termination may result in forfeiture of pending payouts where permitted by law.
8.5 Reporting to Authorities
Where we believe a violation involves illegal activity, we reserve the right to report the matter to relevant law enforcement or regulatory authorities, and to cooperate with their investigations.
We will endeavor to provide notice before taking enforcement action, except where immediate action is necessary to protect the safety of users or the integrity of the platform. You may appeal enforcement decisions by contacting abuse@karibisha.events.
9. Reporting Violations
We rely on our community to help maintain a safe and trustworthy platform. If you encounter content or behavior that violates this Acceptable Use Policy, please report it to us.
9.1 How to Report
- Send an email to abuse@karibisha.events with details of the violation
- Include the event URL, username, or content in question
- Provide a description of the violation and any supporting evidence (screenshots, links, or documents)
- Include your contact information so we can follow up if needed
9.2 What to Expect
- We will acknowledge your report within 48 hours
- Our team will investigate the reported violation and take appropriate action
- We will notify you of the outcome where appropriate, while respecting the privacy of all parties involved
- Reports are treated confidentially, and we do not tolerate retaliation against users who report violations in good faith
